My name is Aiden Cudhea. I am 16 years old and live in Thetford, Vermont. Currently I am among the top junior ski jumpers in the country. I have competed at two Junior National competitions last year placing 5th in the U16 age division. This season I have moved up into the U20 age divison which is a much more experienced and competitive division. I spend much of my free time in Lake Placid, New York training with members of the USA Junior National Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined teams as well as members of the USA Women's National Team.
Why I'm Raising Funds
Competing at such a competitive level comes with a price tag. This year I will travel more and have had to invest in new equipment. To compete, I’ll need to raise my own funds. I work various jobs when I can (mowing lawns, stacking wood, weeding gardens, etc). My family, friends, and home club have also done everything they can to support my journey, but it takes a community of people.
My goal now is to be one of the top 10, U20 jumpers in the country. With continued hard work by me I feel this is a realistic goal. However it means lots of travel to Lake Placid to train and more travel around the country to compete. I need help with the funding, and every little bit helps! I am truly inspired by, and grateful to, the community of people who have helped me in the past, and I will do everything I can to pay it forward.
Where will the funds go?
The money I raise will go towards:
- Airfare and baggage fees (to and from training camps and competitions)
- Housing (when I am training and competing away from Lake Placid)
- Food (when I am on the road)
- Equipment (suits, boots, helmet, skis)
- Hill and Gym fees
- Coaching fees
This Upcoming Season
Now that I am on the Junior National Development Team I am traveling more and more. Already this summer I have traveled to Steamboat Springs, Colorado to train with the Junior National Team and members of the US Nordic Combined National Team. In late July I went to Park City, Utah and trained alongside some of the top jumpers in the country. This fall my plan is to travel and compete in Fox River Groove, Illinois (Chicago) as well as on my home hill in Lake Placid for the US National competition. This winter I am planning to head back out to Steamboat Springs to compete and will also will be taking part in the Mid-west Tour, which will take me to Fox River Grove, Minneapolis, and Eau Claire, Wisconsin. To top off this winter season I will have the tremendous opportunity to go to Anchorage, Alaska to compete at the 2018 Junior National Championship.
This had been an awesome adventure so far and I look forward to continuing to work hard and keep on moving farther ahead. Please consider sharing in my rally.
