Welcome to My Rally Campaign
My name is Cassia Garrett and I'm a 14 year old first year U16 Alpine ski racer from Squaw Valley, CA. I'm at a crucial part of my ski racing career where I need to make sure all elements are in place for a successful season. To launch me toward my goal of reaching technical excellence, I'm raising $18,500 and hope that you will follow my journey and help support my rally to get me there.
Why I'm Raising Funds
Ski racing is an expensive sport. This year I will be moving up a level which marks a new phase of competition. Looking ahead, I will need funding for ski camps, private coaching, personal training and conditioning, new equipment, and travel.
I put on my first pair of skis when I was 2 1/2, and by 3 1/2 I started skiing between my Dad's legs determined to keep up with my older siblings. Fast forward two years and I was riding the chair lift without my parents. By chance a friend of the family encouraged me to sign up for the race team at China Peak. I started as a USSA member racing Far West as a J7 (6 yr. old), and placed in the top 10 in my first race.
After much success in the Central Series Far West races, my parents decided to take a leap of faith in 2012 and transplant me into Squaw Valley. Thanks to charter schools in the Tahoe area, I'm able to train on the mountain 5 days a week.
I want to thank all the coaches and parents from China Peak who helped me navigate the beginning of my ski racing career: Stephanie Clark, Charlie Jobbins, and Chelsay Jackson, and the rest of the race department.
I also want to thank the Squaw Valley U12/U14 race staff who helped me through the North Series and showed me a higher level of training.
A shout out to Maxco Supplies, Inc., Aslan Cold Storage, MC Solutions, and Debar Farms for making my first Vail race camp happen!
