We are a non-profit ski team dedicated to athletes and families. Over 60% of our ski team has a sibling on the team -- we are THAT family oriented. We keep our tuition as low as we can, so we are counting on the support of our FANS to help us raise some much-needed funds to support these awesome ski racers!
The Brighton Ski Team is run by a board of directors, the "dedicated mom's and dad's" that have a passion for keeping kids active in the winter, and friends through the summer. We are a part time ski team, but we have dreams of becoming a full-time race program servicing families and athletes of all levels and abilities. We need to update some equipment and invest in coach education to take our team to the next level! You can help!
Our story, Our background
The Brighton Ski Team was founded a long time ago, in the 90's, through the Ski School at Brighton Resort. In 1995, the ski school lost it's will to manage our traveling athletes, so the parents decided to start our non-profit adventure. We are now our own team, with our own board, coaches and program director.
What we need
We need to upgrade our timing system, it is going to be out of date soon. We run very smooth races, and so we are eager to reach this goal. We also need additional radios for communication on the hill. Our athletes need to have gym time in the summer to increase their strength, but we don't want to increase their tuition. Our team headquarters at Brighton, the beloved A-frame, needs some structural repairs... the needs go on, and on, and on!
In 2012 we had one athlete qualify for the IMD Championships. This past season, 2013, we had four athletes qualify for IMD Championships and we had one very fast YSL Champion. We hope to double this number this season, which will mean 8 IMD Champions! Cross your fingers, our coaches are working so hard with the kids, and the kids are putting 110% into every training session!
We host the Hartlauer Memorial Ski Race every March, on honor of two athletes on our team, Chris and TJ Hartlauer, who passed away in an accident on the way home from ski camp. We are honored to host this race every year, and it has kept our focus on family IN ski racing.
The Brighton Ski Team has 50 athletes this season! We have 9 amazing coaches, 2 perfect peer coaches and a board of directors that is dedicated to making this team work!
