My name is Logan LaPlante and I am taking a different line in my education. I call it Hackschooling. About a year ago I gave a TEDx talk for a school project. To my surprise it really blew up in popularity and is inspiring thousands to look at making being healthy and happy a priority in education.
My talk now has over 4 million views and is now the #2 most popular TEDx talk of all time -- that's out of 37,000+ TEDx talks. Crazy.
I am very fortunate to be surrounded by a community of amazing people and organizations that have helped make my experiences an inspiration to families across the world. My Hackschooling Facebook page has 5,000+ followers talking about how to make being happy and healthy a priority in education. Pretty stoked on that!
I've just been asked to be a part of Universal Studios' documentary film "A Search for Freedom" and to share more of my experiences and ideas of education being about making a life...not just a living.
It's a huge honor to be a part of this film. So many action sport heroes of mine will be in it and I'm stoked to represent all the things this community has done for my brother and I as we pursue our education and sports.
They have invited for me to come up and film in British Columbia with some other athletes. They have kindly offered to cover the expenses of the skiing but I need to cover travel and some lodging.
So I need a little help getting up there!
I'm hoping that some of you might pitch in a little and help me cover the costs of travel/lodging.
If you do help me out you can get an awesome hat made with love and fun from BigTruck Brand!!!
A Search for Freedom
"A Search for Freedom is a story told through the eyes of a group of people who helped create a cultural phenomenon. It is about the freedom that is accessible to everyone; the freedom that comes from living in the moment and doing what makes us feel the most alive. In A Search for Freedom, action sports become a metaphor for life. The activity itself becomes a form of art and its own answer to the age old question of “why do we do it?"
