Hi, my name is...
My name is Justin Reiter, I am on the road to Sochi going for gold and chasing a childhood dream.
The Why
Snowboarding has been the driving force in my life since I first sarted at 9 years old. It introduced me to disipline, sportsmanship, and In 1998 when snowboarding was accepted into the Olympics it became my dream to represent the United States in the winter games and to win a medal. Since then I have taken every step and made every sacrifice to move towards my dream of becoming an Olympian and bringing home the gold.
I hope that my passion and dedication can inspire others to get out and follow their own dreams.
My Story
My life in the mountains started in Lake Tahoe California. My mom had me skiing at 18 months old. But, it was a few years before I switched to Snowboarding.
When I was 9 years old I saw my first snowboarder at Copper Mountain, Colorado. It was love at first sight. I begged my Mom (my biggest fan) for a board and come Christmas morning, stetting beneath the tree was a Burton Perfomer Elite. I slept with it that night and rode it for the first time the next day. I was hooked.
I grew up in Colorado competing in all disciplines of snowboarding: Halfpipe, Slopestyle, Boardercross, and Racing. When I turned 18 I decided to put all of my focus into racing both Parallel Giant Slalom and Parallel Slalom. I chose to move to Steamboat Springs, CO to pursue my Olympic dream and train with the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club. With their support and guidance I have grown from an unranked unknown rider to a top ranked silver medalist at the 2013 World Championships and 6th overall in the world.
I Need Help
I am rallying to raise $10,000 to help with travel and coaching expenses. Unfortunately Olympic Dreams come with a price tag. The cost of a World Cup Season (Olympic Qualifiers) is upwards of $30,000. I am hoping to Rally $10,000 that will be used to help pay for travel expenses such as airline tickets, car rentals, train tickets, and gas. The money will also be used to pay for my coaching fees with the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club.
